PARE PARE PARE (STOP STOP STOP)

That's what the song says! And that's part of the calling God has placed on Hearts in Action - Peru. To do all we can to change the statistics of abuse here in Peru. This week we keep advancing with the PARE trainings. 15 people will be here for a week and will leave with a vision to reach their world, their community with the message of PARE -

1. Think before you act (P)
2. Tell someone you trust (A)
3. Remember that your body is a (R)
creation of God & is VERY
valuable
4. Avoid abusers & possible (E)
situations de abuse

Remember, no matter what's happened in your past, God can heal the broken-hearted & He will bind up the wounds. And for those who haven't been abused, there are warning signs & there are ways to avoid possible situations of abuse & God can use you to help teach others, to help reach others.

Advancing..

Here at the camp, we're trying to advance in some of the projects that we have going. One is the multipurpose building that we have in the back. With PARE starting up on Tuesday and a load of events until March, including the RFKC Camp, we would like to complete the wall of the main room & the bathrooms that will be in the back of the multipurpose room. So the first thing we have to do it put a cement roof over the bathrooms. This will also act as support for the wall of the main room & will allow us to continue with the wall.

We have a few guys working out here to have it done by Monday at the latest. What I like to see it that we're advancing. This place has come a LONG way since I came in January of 2005 thanks to the dedication & dreams of Pastor Tom. Just like the name of the camp - Tikva - which means HOPE in Hebrew - we believe that this place will be used to give the Hope of all Hopes - the life changing Power of God.

What's New in Peru?!

Wow, did I say I was going to keep this updated?? I think I did. Sorry for slacking off with this. This for sure is a New Year's resolution. We want this to be updated AT LEAST twice a week & I'll do my best to do it!

Alida & I & Baby Bowers-to-come had a great Christmas here with Alida's family. We actually spent Christmas Eve & Christmas Day here at the camp. We had dinner at 11:30 pm & opened presents at midnight Christmas Eve (as is tradition here)... and slept in on Christmas Day! We also got to spend some time in the pool (sorry to all you people in the northern U.S.) & just relaxing & enjoying time together as a family.

A few days after Christmas, we were finally able to pick up our license plates & get the car out of storage. And yes, this is an actual picture of the car. We like it & have been putting it to use. Thank you so much for your faithfulness to give & to pray. The car couldn't of come at a more perfect time. Now please pray for an apartment! :)

And for New Years, we headed about 30-40 minutes outside of Lima to the beach & were there with Alida's twin sister & her husband, and Kiara (left), and some people from the church. We were able to just relax, spend some time in the sun, and just relax some more (which is what Alida needs now!)

As for Alida & the little bebe, all is well. We went to the doctor back on the 20th & we were able to hear the little one's heartbeat. Wow. It's just incredible to me. His (or her) little heart was going 130 beats per minute and in the one picture, you could actually see the head, body, and arms & legs... and he's a whopping .2 inches big! Incredible!

We love you guys. Thank you so much for your faithfulness. We pray God's best for you in this New Year. We believe God has awesome things in store for us this year & you all are part of that! Thanks again!
